How Fiber Internet Reaches You
From Construction to Connection
Here’s what to expect as MGW brings fast, reliable fiber internet to your home or business.
Q Why does fiber take longer to install?
In many areas, we’re still building the network to reach your address. We start with backbone fiber, deploy network equipment, then extend feeders into neighborhoods before running the final drop to each home. This multi-step build, plus permitting, crews, and weather, adds time—but ensures a reliable connection for the long term.
Q There’s fiber in my yard / on a pole—does that mean I’m ready?
Not always. You may be seeing primary cable used to connect network facilities. In some cases, additional equipment or a different cable is needed to deliver service to your address.
Q What happens between my inquiry and installation?
Availability & Utility Marking
We confirm if fiber is available or if you’re in an expansion area. After you sign up, we send plans to our team and contact Miss Utility (811) to identify public utilities. You may see temporary paint marks.
Fiber Line Installation
Our crew installs the fiber line from the tap to your home, carefully avoiding marked utilities and any private lines you’ve flagged. In some cases we may use an overhead route.
Splicing & “Lighting”
After the drop is in place, a specialist splices the fiber and puts light on the line. A weather-safe box may be installed on your home to house the ONT.
Final Installation & Activation
We’ll schedule a 4-hour window. Our installer sets up your managed Wi-Fi router, checks for coverage, and gets you online. TV and Fiber Phone (VoIP) are installed if ordered.
Timelines vary by address—we’ll notify you as your project moves forward.
What’s Next?
If you’ve pre-registered, you’re already on the list. We’ll contact you when it’s time to schedule installation. Want to see if your address has fiber access or will be getting it soon?
